PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: £32,000 - £34,000 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

We have an exciting opportunity for four pension co-ordinators to join the BBC Pensions and Benefits Centre in Cardiff.

If you’re someone who cares about delivering excellent customer service, this role could be for you. Pensions administration or similar experience would be an advantage but is not essential as full training will be given.


The Pension and Benefits Centre (P&BC) provides in-house administration services to the Trustee of the BBC Pension Scheme. The BBC Pension Scheme (the Scheme) is one of the largest occupational pension schemes in the UK, with around 50,000 members and assets of c£14 billion. The Scheme is functionally independent of the BBC, managed by a small Executive team with operations staff based in Cardiff. The Scheme closed to new joiners in 2010 but remains open for future accrual.

The P&BC also supports the BBC’s other pension arrangements including LifePlan, a contract-based defined contribution scheme administered by Aviva, and the NEST scheme.

Your role will be to provide first-class administration services to Scheme members and BBC employees. You will know what great service looks like and be able to demonstrate this when responding to pension scheme enquiries by telephone, post or email.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT:

  • Respond to enquiries from members and colleagues by post, email and telephone
  • Follow established procedures to process members’ pension benefits including at retirement, on transferring and on death
  • Support members accessing their benefit details online
  • Monitor and manage own work volumes
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to deliver against daily service level targets

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

  • Prior experience of pension administration or working in a service centre environment
  • Experience of delivering excellent customer service
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal; Assured in dealing with the full range of current and former BBC employees, via multiple communication channels
  • Positive attitude and lives the BBC’s Values
  • Confident managing own workload

DESIRED BUT NOT REQUIRED:

  • Understands how to work in a team to deliver effective services
  • A flexible, willing and pragmatic approach to supporting the wider P&BC environment
  • IT literate, with experience using standard office packages such as Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Ability to develop positive and productive working relationships
