Salary Range : £40,200 – £43,400 per annum depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.
PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
How would you like to be part of the team at BBC Radio Cumbria? We have an opportunity for an experienced senior content producer to join us. You'll be finding and telling great stories from across Cumbria, and you’ll be a production whizz! Whatever the story, we want someone that is creative and can help bring stories to life for our listeners. You’ll be a self-starter, who knows how to find the best stories and guests, but we also want a responsible pair of hands with an understanding of BBC values and editorial guidelines. As well as delivering for radio, you’ll also need to think about digital content, including photos and videos. A knowledge of Cumbria would be an advantage, but above all we’re looking for a creative storyteller – someone full of ideas who can take a spark of a story, help it grow, and turn it into content that connects with audiences and makes a real impact.
WHY JOIN THE TEAM
- You’ll be a content producer for BBC Radio Cumbria. Working with the senior producer, you'll be mainly producing content for our shows.
- You’ll be a key member of the team, crafting content, briefing guests and adding a creative touch to bring stories to life on the radio.
- You will be the lead producer on our weekday breakfast show and set the agenda for the day be delivering the programme brief.
- You’ll lead the team to develop creative ways of telling stories with a range of treatments.
- You may also be asked to create digital content, for BBC online, social media and the BBC Sounds rail.
YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT
- A self-starter who knows a good local story, how to find it and an ability to tell it creatively.
- Ability to use technology as required especially experience of the technology for on-air studio programme production.
- An ability to lead a team, build and maintain effective working relationships with a range of people especially the programme presenter and other members of the programme team. You’ll think big, understand the importance of the breakfast show in driving content and audience.
- Resilience and the ability to work reactively under pressure will be core to this role and expected of the successful candidate.
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA :
- Significant recent experience as a content producer especially programme set up production, with a good knowledge of production techniques
- Effective planning and organising skills, ability to concentrate on several areas of work at one time, delivering consistently to deadlines and reacting positively to changes and conflicting priorities
- Demonstrates sound editorial and policy decisions based upon a clear understanding of the BBC’s distinctive news agenda, the requirements of news and current affairs coverage and the audience
- Ability to use technology as required, especially for programme production
- Able to build and maintain effective working relationships with a range of people especially presenters and producers and an understanding of how a team works effectively.
