You will lead the local team, and represent BBC Children in Need in Scotland.

WHY JOIN THE TEAM
You’ll work with a team of people who are passionate about positive outcomes for children and young people – and you’ll play a key role in making this happen. You’ll also collaborate with teams from across the UK to continuously improve how we assess, award and manage grants.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT

  • Deliver best-practice grant-making and grant management across Scotland, ensuring funding achieves the strongest possible outcomes for children and young people.
  • Ensure all activity aligns to the Scotland team’s local funding priorities, responding to local need and emerging insights.
  • Lead, coordinate and support Scotland team planning and contributions in the run-up to the BBC Children in Need Appeal each November.
  • Work as part of a UK-wide peer group to drive continuous improvement in our grant-making approach and end-to-end grant management.
  • Provide inclusive, effective leadership to a small team; building trust, transparency and continuous learning through clear direction, coaching and feedback.
  • Build and strengthen partnerships across the children and young people’s and grant-making sectors to increase the reach and local impact of BBC Children in Need.

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

  • Demonstrable experience of grant-making and/or grant management.
  • Proven experience working with voluntary and/or community sector organisations.
  • Ability to build and maintain productive relationships across multiple teams.
  • Experience of creating high performing teams, including motivating and supporting others through coaching and constructive feedback.
  • Experience of facilitating panels and/or committees to support robust grant-making decisions.

DESIRABLE:

  • Experience working within the UK children and young people’s sector.
  • Proficiency with Windows-based software, including the ability to use grant-making and grant-management database systems.
  • Experience presenting to a range of audiences

If you can bring some of these skills and experience, along with transferable strengths, we’d love to hear from you and encourage you to apply.
