JOB PURPOSE

Join the BBC Digital News team at the heart of the newsroom, producing fast, accurate stories and videos that reach millions in the UK and worldwide. As a journalist, you’ll craft compelling content for text stories and live pages on key breaking news moments, helping to shape how audiences experience breaking news and analysis across BBC platforms.

These shift-based roles will include weekends and nights.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT

Write clear, accurate, and engaging news stories and live page updates under tight deadlines. Collaborate with correspondents and editors to deliver analysis and creative treatments. Generate ideas that attract new audiences and diversify coverage. Respond quickly to breaking news and make editorial decisions under pressure. Produce and edit timely digital video with flair and context for BBC audiences.

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE ESSENTIAL CRITERIA

  • Experience of writing fast-paced, breaking online news stories or live-page posts with attention to accuracy, context and tone
  • A proven capacity to generate ideas that will help bring in new audiences and broaden our editorial agenda
  • A track record of working swiftly and making decisions under intense pressure
  • A track record of covering the UK and international news agenda Understanding of audience behaviour and analytics
