  • Coaching colleagues to become trusted banking experts, building the confidence and capability to deliver exceptional customer conversations and outcomes.
  • Creating an environment where customers receive personalised, relationship-led service that builds trust and long-term loyalty.
  • Taking ownership of your store's performance, delivering sustainable growth across customer acquisition, retention, deposits and customer advocacy.
  • Using customer insight, colleague feedback and performance data to drive improvements in customer experience, colleague engagement and business performance.
  • Acting as a visible ambassador for Metro Bank, building strong relationships with local businesses, charities, Business Improvement Districts and community organisations.
  • Working in partnership with Business Development Managers and specialist colleagues to champion face-to-face banking and connect customers with the expertise and support they need.
  • Supporting customers in vulnerable circumstances and embedding Consumer Duty principles to ensure fair value, appropriate support and positive outcomes.
  • Taking ownership of customer concerns through to resolution, using feedback to improve experiences and strengthen trust.
  • Maintaining the highest standards of operational excellence, risk management and regulatory compliance.
  • Identifying opportunities to innovate, improve and continuously enhance the experience we deliver to customers and colleagues.

What will you need?

  • A passion for exceptional service and building meaningful relationships.
  • Previous experience leading and developing high-performing teams, including across multiple sites where required.
  • A proven track record of delivering against customer, people, risk and commercial performance metrics.
  • Confidence building relationships, networking and representing Metro Bank within the local community.
  • Strong communication and influencing skills, with the ability to engage a diverse range of customers, colleagues and stakeholders.
  • A customer-obsessed mindset, balancing customer needs, commercial opportunity and risk to achieve positive outcomes.
  • The ability to challenge the status quo, think creatively and implement practical solutions.
  • A positive approach to change, with the ability to lead others through transformation and bring colleagues on the journey.
  • A commitment to supporting customers in vulnerable circumstances and delivering good customer outcomes.
  • A strong understanding of risk, compliance and Consumer Duty requirements.
  • The confidence to take ownership, make decisions and hold yourself and others accountable for delivering high standards.

Our Promise to You

  • You'll join a bank that is redefining relationship banking, creating meaningful connections with customers, colleagues and communities.
  • We'll empower you to lead with autonomy, own the success of your store and make a genuine impact on customer and colleague experiences.
  • We'll invest in your growth through ongoing learning, leadership development and opportunities to broaden your experience.

Important Footnote

Diverse teams really are the best teams. We know that candidates (especially women, research tells us) may be put off applying for a job unless they can tick every box. We also know that ‘normal’ office hours aren’t always doable, and while we can’t accommodate every flexible working request we are happy to be asked. So if you are excited about working with us and think you can do much of what we are looking for but aren’t sure if you are 100% there yet… why not give it a whirl? Good luck!
